The public vote for change of Nalaikh district status to city was held yesterday January 21st at seven locations during 7AM-9PM.
The district has population of 34,575 residents with 19,535 voting rights. The attendance at the voting was at the 62.3 percent or 12,180 Nalaikh residents participated. Out of total voters 96.1 percent or 11,708 voted for changing the status into city.
While 3.1 percent or 374 residents voted against and 0.8 percent or 98 votes were void.
Therefore Nalaikh District Council is to submit the proposal for change of status to the City Council. The process will lead for further discussions at Government and Parliament level.
According to the adjustments to the Ulaanbaatar city Master Plan 2020 and 2030 Development Trend Documents the change of status of Nalaikh district will further facilitiate the improvement of the household manufactures, logistics, wholesales, construction sector development and by the 2030 it is planned to have population of 65,000.
