In Japan consumers become suppliers

(Ulaanbaatar) Jan 23, National Renewable Energy Forum is taking place right now and the speakers are delivering interesting information regarding the utilization of this green initiative. Mongolians have become familiar with the notion of renewable energy and its resources such as sun, wind and water.

Unfortunately, Mongolia is just doing the baby steps regarding the renewable energy sector. Last year Salkhit Wind Farm commenced its operations with capacity of 50MW with investments of MNY 170 billion. Other than this no more significant intitiatives have been recorded lately.

Whereas, in the countryside herders have been using renewable energy sources in their everyday life. 100,000 solar light project have implemented successfully and as a result residents in countryside are using small and medium sized solar panels.

This practice needs to be utilized in the city environment as well as the renewal energy generation is considered as green solution and economically feasible.

For instance, Japan experience shows that consumers are as well the suppliers of the energy. In other words, consumer with private renewable energy source is able to supply the excess energy to the central grid, in turn the consumer get deductions of the consumed energy.

This and other good practices are being introduced and discussed during the forum.
