Cabinet discussed the amendments draft to the Law against alcoholism and approved the submission of the draft to the State Great Khural spring session.
The draft states that the selling and servicing with the alcoholic beverage should be under the regulation of the local authorities based on the local specifics, social and economic environment and opinion of the residents.
Current law allows entities to serve alcoholic beverages until 00.00. This in turn increases the possibilities of the illegal activities such as secret selling of the alcoholic beverages by individuals, private networks and acts as the ground for increased drinking and therefore driving the crime rates up that occur on the streets, hotels and at homes.
The draft to be sumbitted at the spring plenary session provisions the local governors to decide on the working hours of the entities serving alcohol based on the local socio-economic environment and entity credibility.
The draft was initiated by the Ministry of Finance.
