Baganuur Power Plant Concession Agreement is signed to meet the increasing energy demand in the Central region and ensure the sustainable and reliable unified energy system.
The power plant is to be supplied with coal from the Choir-Nyalga deposit and has the capacity of 700 MW and is set to decrease the imported energy.
Concession agreement holder is liable for energy sales and purchases, financing and conducting the contracting of other agreements, conducting environmental studies and construction of the project.
Concession agreement was signed today by S.Javkhlanbaatar, Head of the Investment Agency and Wang Shouhe, CEO of 22nd Construction of the China Nuclear Energy company. The agreement signing ceremony was attended by D.Erdenebat, Minister of Industry, D.Zorigt, Minister of Energy and representatives from the Embassy of PRC in Mongolia.
Baganuur Power Plant Project held the bids for the concession in 2014 and the 22nd Construction of the China Nuclear Energy company was selected as the executor of the project.
Therefore, Government of Mongolia approved the Investment Agency to sign the agreement with the Baganuur Power LLC registered company in Mongolia. The agreement duration is 25 years.
Concession agreement holder is liable for energy sales and purchases, financing and conducting the contracting of other agreements, conducting environmental studies and construction of the project.
Energy resource for ensuring uninterrrupted supply to Dornogovi, Dundgovi and Khentii aimags will be solved by constructing the Baganuur Power Plant. Moreover, the resources will support each other for safe, stable, reliable and sustainable energy supply.
According to the Ministry of the Industry the total investment of the project is estimated at USD 8.9-9.9 million.
