Yesterday, plenary session of the Government assigned the Minister of Industry D.Erdenebat to grant loan worth of MNT 100 billion to cashmere producing factories and organize event to increase export of cashmere products.
By having current assets, factories are able to prepare 1,670 tons of raw cashmere in addition to 3,000 tons of reserve cashmere. Thus, 864 tons of combed cashmere can be prepared for export.
Combed cashmere export can be earned USD 77.5 million or MNT 154 billion and MNT 54 is expected as additional income.
Each year, soft loan worth of MNT 300 billion is required for implementation of producing 100% of raw cashmere domestically.
In 2014, Mongolia produced over 7000 tons of cashmere from 19.2 million goats and it has amounted 40% of the world`s raw cashmere demand. 50% of the world`s raw cashmere demand is produced by China and remaining 10% of the world`s raw cashmere demand is supplied by other countires.
Currently, there are 130 small, medium and large enterprises are operarting in cashmere processing sector and producing MNT 700 billion cashmere products and MNT 600 billion products are being exported.
However, 85% of export products are washed and combed cashmere. If we produce raw cashmere domestically, MNT 2 trillion can be earned.
