When you hear the word "felt", you might imagine something thick and hard. By mixing sheep wool with different types of material, not only scarf, dress, hat, bag, shoe, jacket but also tie can be produced.
B.Batsuh who is studying as a designer in order to make her childhood dream come true has been creating felt products named "Bajuna".
We have invited her to our "Mongol Mind" section and interviewed about her "Bajuna" brand.
"BAJUNA" BRAND WAS RELEASED AFTER SIX YEARS OF CONSISTENT HARD WORK
Even tough B.Batsuh qualified in finance and previously worked for a company as an accountant, one day she decided to study the technology of creating felt products driven by her childhood dream.
Her Holland friend came to Mongolia and told that the felt products purchased from Mongolia attracted many attentions, which inspired her to produce more felt products.
Then, she became disciple of art historian, artist, designer B.Munhsoyol and learned her general technology and painting for felt products researched for 20 years.
At first, she was doing small items such as earrings and six years ago she received her first order of products from Germany. In addition to the product, she employs two people.
ANIMAL PRODUCTS ARE NOT ONLY LIGHT AND WARM BUT ALSO IT FITS PERFECTLY TO BODY
We highlight her felt shoes because warm shoe is considered as the most important thing to cope with Mongolian harsh winter.
"Bajuna" brand has produced various outfits from colorful ankle boots to knee high shoes. Moreover, she produces children boots.
Compared to the Russian felt shoes, "Bajuna" shoes are lighter and more attractive. She noted that we dye the felt by its dedicatory painting, so there is no need to be worried of fading. Moreover, the shoes will not dampen due to its double felt layer at sole.
Care for felt shoe is not that difficult. Specifically, it is enough to rub shoes with brush and wet towel.
Prices for the shoe and bag range between MNT 170.000-250.000. The shoe with extra painting and modish is at MNT 250.000. She has planned to cooperate with designers to improve the shoe design and sole.
Another featured products are felt jacket, scarf, hat, dress and coat. Scarf, hat and dress are thin and resilient. In other words, it was produced by mixing sheep wool with other thick material which became natural, attractive and warm.
Interestingly, prices for scarf range between MNT 20.000-60.000 depending on its length while hat is priced at MNT 30.000-50.000.
