Today, upon the Decree of the President of Mongolia, a sculptor, graphic and jeweller Namdagiin Dashnyam /Dashi Namdakov/ has been awarded with the State Prize of Mongolia for his contribution to the intellectual heritage of the world’s humanity with his outstanding artworks reflecting the great history, tradition, culture, philosophy and the uniqueness of the mentality of Mongols.
The President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj has handed over the State Prize and Chief of Staff of the Office of the President P.Tsagaan introduced the President’s Decree.
A sculptor, graphic and jeweller N.Dashnyam was born in Buryat village of Ukurik in 1967. He graduated from the Krasnoyarsk State Fine Art Institute from the class of Lev Golovnitsky, academician of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts. Since then N.Dashnyam has held numerous exhibitions around the world.
In 2000 he held first solo show in Siberia, at the Irkutsk Regional Museum of Fine Arts named after V. P. Sukachev, Irkutsk. His first park sculpture Ust-Orda was installed in the centre of the town of Ust-Orda, Irkutsk region, in 2003. Since then N.Dashnyam has installed and exhibited a number of large scale sculptures throughout the world (Kazakhstan, Russia, United Kingdom, Italy).
N.Dashnyam has also worked in cinematographic projects: he worked as Production Designer on the film “Mongol”, that got Oscar Nomination as Best Foreign Film in 2007. Dashi received several prizes for his work: received the Russian Film Critic and Film Press’s “White Elephant”, award for the Best Costume design in the film Mongol, as well as the Prize of the Russian Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia "Golden Eagle" for the work of Designer in the film Mongol.
N.Dashnyam has also received the Order of Polar Star of Mongolia for many years of fruitful work in the development of the Buryat-Mongolian cooperation in the field of culture and arts, he was awarded the title of the main sculptor at the International Award Ceremony "Pietrasanta and Versilia in the World", Italy, and also received the Order of the Tuva Republic.
N.Dashnyam’s artworks are kept in the vaults of the State Hermitage, the Russian Ethnographic Museum in St. Petersburg, the Museum of Oriental Art, and in other museums around the world. Among the renowned private collectors of works by Dashi are representatives from the world of politics and business, as well as private collectors from UK, Russia, Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, Japan, USA, and Taiwan.
