On May 2, the President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj has welcomed Kazunori Tanaka, Daishiro Yamagiva and Yasumasa Nagasaka, who are the Members of the House of Representatives /lower house/ of the Japanese Parliament. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Takenori Shimizu was present at the meeting.
Member of the House of Representatives and Director-General of International Bureau at the Liberal Democratic Party /LDP/ of Japan, Mr. Kazunori Tanaka expressed appreciation to the President of Mongolia for taking time to meet the Members of the Japanese Parliament.
Mr. Kazunori Tanaka presented the greetings of Motoo Hayashi, Chair of the Japan-Mongolia Friendship Group at the House of Representatives and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.
Mr. Kazunori Tanaka appreciated the support and assistance that the Government and the people of Mongolia have rendered to Japan during the recent earthquake. He noted with satisfaction the progress of bilateral relations between the two countries in various spheres highlighting the mutual exchange of high-level visits including a working visit of President Elbegdorj, a visit of Speaker of the Parliament Z.Enkhbold, a visit of Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg to Japan, and the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to Mongolia in 2015. Mr. Kazunori Tanaka noted that it was the first time for the Prime Minister of Japan to visit Mongolia for the second time during his office and said it is a manifestation of Japan's great attention to Mongolia.
The regular election for the House of Representatives will be held in the upcoming July and the Mongolia’s Parliamentary election will take place this June. Therefore, President Elbegdorj wished the Members of the House of Representatives success in their future endeavors.
President Elbegdorj noted: “I’m truly glad to welcome you today. I appreciate you for conveying the warm greetings of our old friends. The mutual relationship, especially the inter-parliamentary ties have been rapidly intensifying. We give great importance to the exchanges of high-level visits between the Parliaments.
Our two countries signed the Economic Partnership Agreement and we are at the stage of implementation. Mongolia and Japan are implementing a number of joint projects such as the new international airport in Ulaanbaatar and the construction of Bayanzurkh hospital. We are grateful for the achievements. Through the Economic Partnership Agreement, the bilateral economic cooperation will expand.
