Only independent candidate elected (11029 votes) in the 2016 parliamentary elections S.Javkhlan came to the State Palace on horseback, leading a line of 99 horsemen, on July 5. The first ever session of the newly elected parliament is convened this day.

S.Javkhlan, known as the “Prince” of Mongolian country music, had been keeping his distinctive image throughout his entire election campaign, having worn Deel (traditional dress) and ridden horses and even oxcarts to meet the voters in his constituency. His main rivals in this constituency of Bayanzurkh District of Ulaanbaatar were a former MP D.Arvin and the hostess of one of  the Mongolia’s most popular TV portrait talk shows – “100 Esteemed Persons of Mongol Nations”.
