Cold air outbreak from Siberia will hit the northwest half of Mongolia on Jan 15th and bring extreme cold weather in most regions during Jan 16-19st.
Freezing night temperature in Uvs lake, Ider, Tes, Khuren Belchir hollow and Darkhad hollow will reach -40C to -45C, Orkhon-Selenge, Kharaa, Yuruu, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon, Ulz, Khalkh river basins will reach -35C to -40C, steppe regions will reach -28C to -33C, gobi regions will reach -19C to -24C.
Snow is expected in Western and Central aimags on Jan 15th, most regions on Jan 16-17th and some areas on Jan 20th.
On theses days, wind will reach 12-14 m/s, resulting strong snow and dust storm. Thus, the residents are warned of risk of frostbite. Due to strong snow and dust storms, roads will be closed.
The penetrating cold can cause problems to the livestock grazing, road and railway transport, energy and heat supply.
