"Trade turnover between Vietnam and Mongolia totals USD 45 million"

"Trade turnover between Vietnam and Mongolia totals USD 45 million"

An official visit of the Vietnamese Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh to Mongolia commences today. At the beginning of the visit, Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh reached a negotiation with Mongolian Prime Minister J.Erdenebat.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ts.Munkh-Orgil made a statement regarding the negotiation. 

He stated, "Three issues have discussed during the negotiation. At first, they discussed the issue of increasing political, military defense, and law enforcers cooperation between two countries. In recent years, Vietnam`s economy is growing rapidly which resulting expansion of Vietnam's influence in the region.

Therefore, Mongolia is interested in following a policy to make Vietnam as a subsidiary country of Southeast Asia as well as develop a relationship. This year, political relations between the two countries have a feature. Currently, Vietnam is chairing APEC. In regards, Mongolia proposed Vietnam to help and support on strengthening its cooperation with APEC. 

Second, the sides discussed the issue of increasing their economic cooperation. As of today, trade turnover between Vietnam and Mongolia totals USD 45 million. Thus, two sides expressed their interest in increasing trade. 

Last April, Veterinary and plant quarantine cooperation agreement was established between the two countries. In scope of the agreement, Mongolia is enabled to supply meat and agricultural products to Vietnam. Meanwhile, Vietnamese side expressed their interest to import goat meat from Mongolia. Then, Vietnamese Government agreed to buy meat from five companies of Mongolia. 

20 tons of meat will be supplied to Vietnam within 2017 at first phase, while Vietnam said it has potential to buy 200 tons of meat per year from Mongolia. 

The third issue which discussed at the negotiation was tourism and student exchanges. As of today, over 60 Mongolian students are studying in Vietnam while 30 Vietnamese students are majoring degrees in Mongolia. At today`s meeting, two sides reached an agreement to increase expand the sectors that provide scholarships not a number of grant numbers. 

Moreover, the officials have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between Ministries of Labor and Social Protection to solve the social background of students who are studying in both countries". 

I hope this visit of Vietnamese Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh will take relationship of two countries to a new level, concluded Foreign Affairs Minister of Mongolia Ts.Munkhorgil. 

Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh will leave Mongolia on Apr 10. In accordance with her visit, Business forum of Mongolia and Vietnam to be held tomorrow. Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh is accompanied by 20 delegations from Vietnamese major companies as well as agriculture, mining, tourism, education and science sectors.
