Renovation of Ulaanbaatar-Darkhan roads (204.6 km) commences today. The road will be renovated as a four-lane with concrete pavement that meets the international standard.
The Ulaanbaatar–Darkhan road was built in 1970-1980 and was repaired in 1997-2000. The road lies through major industrial centers of Mongolia, agriculture, farming and major economic regions as well as tourist camps, and resorts. According to the standard of current road condition, 600 cars are advised to travel on the road per night. However, an average of 3,800 cars travels on the road per night.
Moreover, the renovation work includes construction of 12 iron concrete bridges, two tunnels, temporary parking areas and water drainages.
The renovated road has planned to be commissioned in 2018.
