Team Mongolia took the first place in the 28th International Elite Men Women Boxing Tournament ‘Ulaanbaatar Cup’ which took place on June 21-25 at ‘Ikh Tamir’ sports complex in Khandgait.
Mongolia had hosted the Ulaanbaatar Cup continuously until 2000 when the tournament came to a halt after 26 successful competitions. Last year, Mongolian Boxing Federation revived the tradition with the 27th Ulaanbaatar Cup.
The 2017 Ulaanbaatar Cup brought together 105 boxers from Mongolia, Russia, China, India, the DPRK, Kyrgyzstan, Bhutan, the Philippines, Indonesia and Taiwan to compete in men’s 7 and women’s 3 categories.
Mongolian team of boxers claimed the first place with 3 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals whereas the DPRK team won the second place with 3 gold and 1 silver medals with the Philippines taking the third place with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals.
