A total of 22 fires reported nationwide as of today. Geographically, the fires broke out in Yuruu, Mandal, Khuder soums of Selenge province, Guvanbulag, Selenge soums of Bulgan province and Batsumber soum of Tuv province. Five of the fires have occurred in forests where are hard to reach. Over 700 staffs of National Emergency Management Agency and more than 50 vehicles are working at the sites. Currently, the fires burnt 66,500 hectares of land.
Apart from dry air and extreme rise in temperature, 70-80 percent of the total fires have caused by the negligence of humans, especially people who were traveling in the countryside. Therefore, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat imposed temporarily ban on camping and hiking to green zones of the country and forests.
Many people consider that the best way to stop the fires is cloud seeding. Information and Research Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology, and Environment reports that rain cloud expected in these areas during Jul 17-19 and it is possible to produce rain by cloud seeding on these days.
Moreover, National Emergency Management Agency asked support from Russia Federal Emergency Management Agency and requested firefighter airplane. Russian side agreed to help and reported that they gave direction to the Emergency Management Agency of Siberia. Today, a clear response to this issue will come up.
