Meeting With Officer-in-Charge of Resident Representative of FAO Adnan Rauf

On August 3, the President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga welcomed Adnan Rauf, Officer-in-Charge of the Resident Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization /FAO/ of the United Nations in Mongolia.

Officer-in-Charge of the FAO Mr. Adnan Rauf briefly introduced about the organization’s activity in Mongolia and said that the FAO pays close attention to enhancing life of herdsmen and improving food quality in Mongolia.

During his tenure as Minister of Agriculture, President Battulga cooperated with the FAO and knows well about this sector. Therefore, he promised to pay every attention to expand the cooperation with FAO. He also praised the FAO’s commitment to improve herdsmen’s life quality and emphasized the need to establish a mechanism that enables the production and export value added goods from livestock raw material.

In 2014, FAO members, parliamentarians, members from civil society and private sector endorsed the Rome Declaration on Nutrition and the Framework of Action. The Rome Declaration on Nutrition enshrines the right of everyone to have access to safe, sufficient and nutritious food, and commits governments to prevent malnutrition in all its forms. The Framework of Action recognizes that governments have the primary role and responsibility for addressing nutrition issues and challenges.
