The construction of highway leading to the New Ulaanbaatar International Airport (NUBIA) which located 52 km south of Ulaanbaatar city center has started. The highway will be 32.3 km long and has two ways with 6 lanes and 32.5 meters width.
Currently, the construction process of the highway is at 44.1 percent. A total of 667 workers including 420 Mongolians and 204 Chinese are working at the site.
NUBIA designed with the capacity of up to 3 million passengers per year and have the capacity to receive 1500 passengers per hour. The new airport is expected to begin full operations in 2018 as an estimated fund of USD 35 million is required to launch the operations.
