ULAANBAATAR (GoGo Mongolia) - Parliament session to discuss and finalize the resignation of Prime Minister J.Erdenebat and his government expects to be held on Sep 6.
Earlier on Aug 23, 30 members of Mongolian People`s Party (MPP) in Parliament submitted a request to Deputy Speaker of the State Great Khural T.Ayursaikhan to resign Prime Minister J.Erdenebat.
Later on Aug 30, Parliament announced irregular session by the resolution of the Speaker of the Parliament and discussed the issue. Also, Standing Committee on State Structure held a meeting on that day and voted. However, eight out of 17 MPs of the meeting voted for dismissal of the Prime Minister while remaining nine MPs voted against it.
Now the resignation of the Prime Minister will be finalized at the Parliament session. According to the resolution of the Speaker of the Parliament, the irregular session was announced until Sep 7. Thus, the Parliament must hold a meeting before this Thursday.
Nine members of the opposition Democratic Party group in Parliament considered that the Prime Minister should be dismissed while the position of the ruling MPP`s remains uncertain.
