Russian side put proposal on allowing a land for Mongolia at Vostochny port

ULAANBAATAR (GoGo Mongolia) - On the sidelines of his attendance in the Eastern Economic Forum, taking place in Vladivostok of Russia, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga got au fait with the operations of “Vostochny” port at Nakhodka on September 5. 

The Russian Federation is hosting the Eastern Economic Forum for the third year in Vladivostok with participation of heads of state and government in order to attract foreign investment to this specific region. 

Present were also, Minister for Road and Transport Development of Mongolia D.Ganbat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation B.Delgermaa, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President Z.Enkhbold, Presidential Envoy in charge of Trilateral Cooperation and Economic Corridor of Mongolia, 
Russia and China A.Gansukh. 

Aide to the President of Russia I.E.Levitin, Minister of Transport M.Yu.Sokolov, President of Russian Railways JSC O.V.Belozerov, Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia and Head of the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport V.A.Olerskii gave on-site tour to the President of Mongolia through the coal handling port. 

During this visit, the Russian side put forward an official proposal on allowing a land for Mongolia at Vostochny port, considering the possibility that Mongolia can establish a similar port as Vostochny to transport the coal coming from its Tavantolgoi mine to global markets. 

Vostochny, an intermodal container port of Russia located in Vrangel of Nakhodka Gulf of the Sea of Japan, is the end point of Primorie-1 international railway corridor reflected in the Programme on Establishing Economic Corridor of Mongolia, the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.
