ULAANBAATAR (GoGo Mongolia) - On Sep 21, the cabinet obliged Acting Minister of Environment and Tourism D.Oyunkhorol to implement projects to build "Mongolian empire" museum and tourism complex, to protect the ecosystem of Ugii and Ganga lakes as well as to develop sustainable tourism.
Acting Minister of Finance B.Choijilsuren was assigned to provide foreign soft loans and grants to the projects. The Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold was obliged to issue a land use permit to establish "Mongolian empire" museum and tourism complex.
Mongolia set a goal of raising the number of foreign tourists to 1 million per year by 2020. Currently, the country welcomes 390-470 thousand of tourists per year. To achieve the goal, the country needs to implement these projects that are expected to develop tourism infrastructure, increasing flight route, and frequency and to create competitive products and services that meet international standards, says Ministry of Tourism.
Moreover, the projects will help to maintain the ecological balance of environment and provide permanent jobs to local residents besides creating cultural and tourism services in locals.
