ULAANBAATAR (GoGo Mongolia) - The East Asia and Pacific Economic Update, the World Bank’s semi-annual review of the region’s developing economies, will be released on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, in Bangkok, Thailand.

World Bank Mongolia office will be connected by video conference, and economists based in Mongolia office will attend the launch.

The update offers a comprehensive analysis of developing East Asia and Pacific’s growth prospects amid a recovery in the global economy and world trade. It also addresses potential risks, such as uncertainty about economic policies in major trading partners and the escalation of geopolitical tensions, as well as the implications of possible tightening in global financial conditions. The report concludes by discussing policy options to address these risks and strengthen the foundations for sustained and inclusive growth.

Sudhir Shetty, World Bank Chief Economist for the East Asia and Pacific region, will discuss these and other trends, based on the latest data and analysis, with World Bank Ulaanbaatar office joining by video conference. Senior Country Economist for Mongolia Jean-Pascal Nganou, Economist Altantsetseg, and Davaadalai will join the press conference.
