Amendments to the Law on Administrative and Territorial Units of Mongolia

Parliament’s State Structure Standing Committee conducted its final review of amendments to the Law on Administrative and Territorial Units of Mongolia on friday and their Governance and other relevant laws.

According to the amendments, one-third of the membership of Citizens’ Representative Councils should be civil servants. Cabinet has stated that this change could help strengthen local governance. The amendments received approval from 81.3 percent of the committee members in attendance. The proposed amendments will be introduced during Parliament’s next plenary session.
