ULAANBAATAR (GoGo Mongolia) - The Primary Criminal Court of Bayanzurkh District ordered 18 years imprisonment sentence to the man who was found guilty of raping his six-year-old stepdaughter.
The trial of this case from last October was held yesterday. Due to the court rule, trials and discussions related to rape offenses are held in closed sessions. Therefore the officials are unable to provide further information.
To remind back of the case, the mother left her daughter with her stepfather to collect nuts from the forest. The following day, the girl's aunt went to pick her up, noticing that she was unable to walk. Upon bringing the girl to the Forensic Medical Office, it was found out that the girl was raped.
The stepfather denied the offense and insisted that the girl fell down a slide.
Currently, the girl is staying at a child care center despite her mother's request to take her daughter back. The court denied her appeal on the grounds of unemployment and unclear domicile and decided to discuss in further trials.
