Mongolia-South Korea Business Forum is taking place in Seoul. Led by Prime Minister Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, over 60 business representatives of 45 Mongolian private entities are participating in the forum.
Opening the forum, Kim Jundong, Vice-Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry remarked “Mongolia is a country of rich natural resources and South Korea is short in minerals. Therefore, the two countries can cooperate in this field.”
Lkhagvajav Baatarjav, Chairman of Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, addressed “Although South Korea lacks natural resources, it is one of the biggest energy consumer in the world, as well as a leading country in the investment and technology spheres. On the other hand, Mongolia has substantial agricultural, natural and mineral resources; but lacks investment and technology. Hence, there is a significant room for cooperation between Mongolia and South Korea.”
Prime Minister Khurelsulkh Ukhnaa highlighted Mongolia’s economic growth and that foreign debt repayments are being settled on time. A representative of South Korean Ministry of Trade, Indsutry and Energy expressed South Korea’s interest in cooperating on solar and wind energy spheres, stating the cooperation could become the cornerstone in Northeast Asia region.
Foreign Minister Tsogtbaatar Damdin said “Mongolia’s GDP per capita multiplied by 8 times within a decade. A small economy can grow rapidly with the right policy. Mongolia's exports have a positive trend over imports. Trade surplus is estimated to grow 14 percent this year. FDI has immensely dropped in the recent years. But the GDP is expanding further.
The Government of Mongolia will prioritize the stability of legal environment. Aside from domestic factors, our country is also involved in international agreements. We are responsibly fulfilling this duty. We prioritize the world’s priority. As stated by the Prime Minister, we take the repayment of bonds raised by the international community with high responsibility.
