Cabinet held its regular meeting on February 22, and discussed Ulaanbaatar Railway Joint Venture Company’s 73.8 billion MNT paid for diesel gasoline excise tax from 1998 to 2015.
The cabinet's ministers decided to submit a proposal to Parliament to negotiate the terms of a soft loan from Japan Bank for International Cooperation to finance upgrades for railway transport.
Considering the cost an undue loss and failure to commit to some articles of the loan agreement, Cabinet would ask the bank to forgive the 73.8 billion MNT and its interest from the loan. Members of the cabinet also looked over a 2017 report on the implementation of the government's economic recovery program.
Most of the program's measures were finished in 2017, and the remaining 68 projects will be completed in the first quarter of 2018. The program resulted in positive changes for the macro economy and social.
