Yesterday, representatives from new energy developer China Tianying Inc. met with specialists from the Mongolian Academy of Sciences to discuss the possibility of establishing an energy producing waste processing plant in Ulaanbaatar.
According to company representatives, the factory could process 500 to 1,000 tons of waste per day and produce an average of 10 MW of electricity annually.
The company told city and state officials that it would not require city or state funds to establish the plant, and instead proposed that the city purchase electricity generated by the plant, and once the terms of the purchase agreement are completed, the plant would be officially handed over to Mongolia at no additional cost.
A China Tianying Inc. representative stated, “There are a number of such plants in China. The advisor to the Prime Minster of Mongolia and the Mongolian Ambassador to China will be visiting one of our plants next month. Once the city administrators and other officials agree on the terms, we can estimate and define the plant's capacity.”
