According to the Study of Private Sector Perceptions of Corruption Survey 2017 of the Asia Foundation, around 60 percent of Mongolian private entities are dissatisfied with the business environment due to corruption.
While the satisfied entities were 27.2 percent in 2012, the number drastically reduced by 2.5 times, to 12.1 percent within only five years. In terms of the business environment, more than half of the surveyors said that tax is very high.
The 23 percent of entities assessed that the permits and licenses are limited, 21 percent view that loan opportunities are limited and 17 percent answered that the professional staff are lacking. Also, the co-research conducted by the Asia Foundation and Sant Maral Foundation shows that private entities assessed the operations of Independent Authority Against Corruption of Mongolia as “inefficient”.
As stated by the survey, the mining sector and public services have high vulnerable to corruption. For instance, the General Agency for Specialized Inspection was ranked as the most corrupted agency on the list of the most affected organizations with 25.2 percent. However, the rating is 2.4 percent lower than the previous year.
