The Cashmere program of the Government has set an aim to increase the proportion of cashmere processing plants in the cashmere industry to 15 percent.
The objectives also included to grow the full processing of agricultural raw materials, such as felt, leather, wool and cashmere, to 60 percent and implement flexible policy on the long-term investments and loans for the Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations.
The factories that produce the final products run out of working capital to purchase raw materials in March and April, the season for raw material preparation. As a result, the majority of high quality raw materials are exported raw, informed Mongolian Commodity Exchange (MCE). A total of 5409.7 tons of washed cashmere, 571.4 tons of sheared cashmere, 915.6 thousand knitwear were produced in 2017, of which 90 percent of the production were primary processed and the remaining were final products such as textiles and knitted fabrics, according to MCE.
