During their regular session, Members of Parliament approved a draft resolution to ratify a trilateral agreement on undertaking international transport through an Asian road network.
The agreement was initiated by Mongolia, the Russian Federation, and the People’s Republic of China back in 2016. According to the agreement, the proposed international route would start from Russia’s Ulaan-Ude; cross Mongolia’s Altanbulag, Darkhan, Ulaanbaatar, and Sainshand; and reach China’s Tianjin Port through Erlian.
The economic value of the project has been estimated, and it is believed that Mongolia’s foreign trade turnover could grow by 20 percent with inclusion in the road network. Analysts say that construction of the road could help to generate up to 4,000 jobs in Mongolia.
