From June 18 through 19, the third Northeast Asian Mayor’s Forum will be held in Ulaanbaatar, under the initiative of Ulaanbaatar Mayor S. Batbold.
Mayors and decision makers from 18 Northeast Asian countries, including Russia, China, South Korea, North Korea and Japan, and over 300 representatives from international organizations have been participating in the forum to discuss climate change and steps toward the reduction of greenhouse emissions, a major cause of climate change.
The forum is being held under the theme “The development of cities with low greenhouse emissions: improving air quality and reducing greenhouse emissions”. Mayor S. Batbold stated, “A key urban policy would be to introduce technology for the short-term reduction of greenhouse gases with a low budget.”
