During its regular session on August 22, Cabinet passed a resolution to raise salaries for civil servants from eight to 30 percent in 2018. After negotiations with staff from the International Monetary Fund, 92.4 percent of the all civil servants (173,100 people) will receive wage increases.
The resolution will not affect officials holding positions at political, administrative, or judiciary levels. It was reported that there would be an 8 percent wage increase for roughly 145,000 civil servants, while the remaining 28,200 employees will receive salary increases of up to 30 percent, depending on their position and a workplace evaluation.
