The President of Mongolia, Kh.Battulga, has issues an emergency order which in effect an order cancelling theTsagaan Sar celebration because of the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The order was issued on February 12 following a cabinet meeting. According to the law, the government can declare an emergency prohibiting meetings and gatherings crowds.
Ts.Ganzorig, Head of Press Department, posted on his social media that “The cabinet have been discussing issues related Coronavirus at every meeting. The (direct order) banning the celebration of Tsagaan Sar is difficult. (But) according to the law, crowds gathering for the Tsagaan Sar celebration can be stopped by the President by declaring an “emergency” under supervision of the police and the military. The government has made decisions to not organize wrestling, state greeting, corporate welcoming and to narrow the celebration within family members without visits.
