ULAANBAATAR (GoGo Mongolia) - Member of the ruling Mongolian People`s Party, which holds 65 out of 76 seats in Parliament, has intensified the dismissal of its government, breaking their promise to prefer unity.
On Aug 23, 31 members of Mongolian People`s Party (MPP) in Parliament submitted a request to Deputy Speaker of the State Great Khural T.Ayursaikhan to resign Prime Minister J.Erdenebat and his government.
Yesterday, on Aug 29, MPP group meeting in Parliament was held and discussed the issue.
About 50 members including Speaker of the Parliament M.Enkhbold, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat, Deputy Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh, Chairman of the Cabinet Secretariat J.Munkhbat and Minister of Finance B.Choijilsuren attended the MPP group meeting yesterday. However, the resignation of the Government has not finalized yet.
Today MPP group in Parliament is scheduled to continue the meeting. Following the Standing Committee on State Structure will discuss the issue of the Prime Minister`s resignation.
A total of 15 prime ministers have served to Mongolia since 1992. However, except the Government led by N.Enkhbayar, all governments have resigned before their terms.
It is believed that MPs dismiss the Government for the sake of themselves, not for the people. The signatures of MP collected on the resignation letter of the Government cost minister`s position, rumors start spreading.
