Following information presents Mongolia's economic and social statistics for the initial 9 months of 2021.
- Money supply reached MNT 27 trillion at the end of the first 9 months of this year, increasing by MNT 4.6 trillion compared to the same period of the previous year. It was influenced by MNT deposits which increased by MNT 3.5 trillion. Cash reached MNT 1.1 trillion, increasing by 11 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The total deposits are MNT 19 trillion which 75% was deposited by MNT.
The total outstanding debt is MNT 20 trillion. This is an increase of MNT 2.9 trillion from the same period of the previous year. 84% of total loans are normal loans. The exchange rate increased by MNT 5 compared to the same period of the previous year.
Nationwide, consumer goods prices increased by 9.6% compared to previous year. It was influenced by food prices which increased by 15%, transportation price increased by 17%, housing price increased by 7%, and medicine price increased by 6%. Inflation increased by 9.9% in Ulaanbaatar.
The State budget has a deficit of MNT 190 billion. Total tax revenue is MNT 8.5 trillion. Compared to the same period of the previous year, it increased by MNT 2.4 trillion. Income tax increased significantly compared to the same period of the previous year.
The foreign trade balance showed a surplus of USD 1.3 billion. Exports reached USD 6.4 percent, increased by 24 percent from previous year. The increase was influenced by mining product price increase. The amount of copper concentrate is the same as 2020, but the price has increased by 97 percent. Coal amount fell by 37 percent, but prices did not fall.
Imports reached USD 5 billion, increased by USD 1 billion from the previous year. Imports of wheat, trucks and fuel increased.
Agriculture - Large cattle mortality reached 2.4 million, increased by 78 percent from the previous year. The number of offspring decreased by 2.9 million from the previous year. Large cattle mortality has been increasing since 2019.
As of the initial eight months of this year, Mongolia made sales of MNT 16 trillion. The sales have risen since May.
As of October 13, prices of main commodities in Ulaanbaatar city increased by 2.4% from the previous month and by 1.5% from the previous week.
