B.Javkhlan: Approved 2026 budget will adequately finance operations

B.Javkhlan, Minister of Finance, said the Government will be able to finance its activities next year with the budget approved, and outlined how the package was prepared and adopted.

The 2026 budget was successfully approved within the legal deadline, by November 15. This year’s budget is distinctive because it reflects input from some 188,000 citizens and was finalized under difficult circumstances, including political tensions and strikes in the education and health sectors. Appropriate changes were made to respond to sectoral and social demands.

To accommodate pay rises, pensions and increased benefits, many departments agreed to reduce planned current spending by 10–15%, reprioritising funds toward social spending. It is premature to discuss formal amendments now that the budget is approved and implementation has not yet begun. If conditions require it, amendments will be made, but the approved budget can fully finance the government’s activities in 2026.
