President Kh. Battulga, accompanied by Speaker of Parliament M. Enkhbold, Prime Minister U. Khurelsukh, and Foreign Minister D. Tsogtbaatar, received deans of foreign diplomatic corps, diplomats, and ambassadors on January 11, at the State Palace.
The president wished the diplomats in attendance a happy Lunar New Year in advance of the holiday and shared his stance on Mongolia's democracy, economy, and tax transparency. He said, “We, as representatives of the Government of Mongolia, are happy to cooperate with you, delegates of Mongolia’s partner countries and international organizations, in overcoming economic challenges and growing our foreign trade and economy.
Mongolia will keep paying attention to our friendly good neighbor relations to strengthen the efficiency of cooperation with Russia and China. As stated in Mongolia’s foreign policy concept, we have been cooperating with third neighbor countries, other nations, international organizations, and international communities in all possible fields.
There have been a number of achievements in the past year, such as the effectiveness of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and Mongolia, as well as the EU’s opening of a delegation office in Ulaanbaatar. It should be noted that the second compact of the Millennium Challenge Corporation with Mongolia will be implemented.” He also spoke about Mongolia’s inclusion in the EU's tax haven blacklist, and noted that it might be the result of a misunderstanding or lack of information.
The president said that he has no doubt that Mongolia will be withdrawn from the list after reaching a mutual understanding with the EU.
