Vice Minister of Energy was assigned to ensure the construction of Hydro Power Plant in Erdeneburen soum of Khovd aimag, which is provide stable energy to Mongolian Western region and reduce energy dependency on imports.
Minister of Finance, J.Erdenebat and the Vice Minister of Energy, D.Zorigt were assigned to ensure the financing of the consrtuction of Hydro Power Plant from the state budget for "Erdeneburen Hydro Power Plant Project".
Moreover, contractor to build a hydropower plant will be selected within second quarter of 2016.
In 2013, energy consumption in Western region was 127.1 million kWh and 28.6% of energy was produced by Durgun hydro power plant, while remaining energy was imported from Russia and China.
In recent years, energy consumption in Western region has been increasing by 5-10 percent annually.
