GRAND SLAM: O.Uranbayar strikes Gold, L.Ankhzaya takes Bronze in men's 73 kg

The Mongolian judo team added another gold medal to its tally at the Ulaanbaatar 2025 Grand Slam, with O.Uranbayar delivering a flawless performance in the men’s 73 kg category.

Final Results – Men's 73 kg:
  1. O.Uranbayar (Mongolia)
  2. Ahmadzod Masudi (Tajikistan)
  3. L.Ankhzaya (Mongolia)
  4. Yudai Tanaka (Japan)

Representing the “Avragch” sports committee of the National Emergency Management Agency and the “Bor Undur Mandal” company, International Sports Master O.Uranbayar impressed the home crowd with his powerful and tactical judo. He claimed the title by defeating Tajikistan’s Ahmadzod Masudi in the final with a sit-and-carry technique, earning a decisive yuko score.

On his road to gold, He swept Li Jin Han of China, edged out fellow Mongolian L.Ankhzaya with a last-minute yuko, and overpowered Japan’s Yudai Tanaka in the semifinals by a clean sweep.

In the same weight class, L.Ankhzaya, a World Championship bronze medalist from the Jenko Club, also delivered a strong performance. He clinched bronze after an intense overtime victory against Kazbek Naguchev, a Russian athlete now competing for the UAE.
