As part of Ulaanbaatar's air pollution reduction program, 5,000 households in Bayangol and Chingeltei districts have been converted to gas heating this year. The transition includes 3,815 households in Chingeltei District and 1,185 households in Bayangol District.
Governor of the Capital and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar B.Purevdagva visited the Ulaanbaatar City Gas Supply and Management Department to review the project's implementation.
Mayor B.Purevdagva said the city will proceed with the next phase of expansion once the initial 5,000 households have fully adapted to using gas fuel.
He also noted that the department has introduced Mongolia's first internationally compliant laboratory equipment for gas composition analysis, enabling accurate testing of all types of gas.
The participating households have been equipped with gas heaters manufactured by Haier and Hisense. Designed by Mongolian engineers, the heaters comply with NFPA international safety standards, feature gas leak prevention systems, enhanced safety protection, user-friendly operation, and a built-in humidifying water tray.
As part of the project, 25 gas fuel distribution points are now in operation. Between January and June 2026, authorities carried out 17 fuel deliveries, put 11,365 gas cylinders into circulation, and sold 308.4 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Since December 2025, Mongolia has imported a total of 2,080 tons of LPG, consisting of 98.8% propane.
