The soundtrack from "KPop Demon Hunters" delivers K-pop's first Grammy win, but opens debate over what the milestone truly represents

Netflix’s animated film “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack track “Golden” marked a historic moment for the K-pop industry after winning at the 68th annual Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The song took home the award for Best Song Written for Visual Media, becoming the first Grammy-winning track associated with K-pop. The achievement is considered a major milestone, one that even BTS - the genre’s most globally recognized act - failed to secure despite receiving three previous nominations in different categories.

As the award is given to songwriters rather than performers, Ejae, Teddy, 24 and Ido, who participated in writing and producing “Golden,” have officially become Grammy winners.
