New place for youth to visit and entertain during their free time has opened in UB.
"N cafe" and "Nomon" book store, which is offering opportunity to read book while drinking and eating, has started its operation at east north side of Builders square (Barilgachdiin Talbai).
This building designed as books has children`s book store at its B1 floor, Mongolian and English book store at its first floor, coffee shop at its second floor and book store will be opened at third floor soon.
"N cafe" and "Nomon" book store opens at 9am to 8pm during working days and opens at 10am to 6pm during the weekends.
We are delivering the interview with Ceo of "Nomon" T.Khurelchimeg on her upcoming project.
Why did you open "Nomon"?
According to our study, Mongolia has lack of library and book store. For instance; there is one library or one book store per 30 thousand people in developed country, while there is one library or one book store per 150 thousand people in Mongolia. Thus, we have five times lower book access than other countries.
First, we planned to open book service network in every district of UB. Book service network includes not only book store, but also coffee shop, reading hall and children book store. We are operating complex services as selling only book is considered as unsatisfactory for us.
Everybody knows the benefits of book. Further, our country will not be developed without book. Even, we are business company, we initiated this project to make right investment to the future.
When did the project start?
The construction has started since 2013 after processing the project and finding the area to build. We designed this building as book and it looks like two books overlaped. We aimed to make unique design. Why must we enjoy nice design buildings only abroad? We purposed to construct attractive building in our country. Currently, we are working on the next project.
How is your book access doing currently?
Fund of our library has not been created yet as we have estimated. We purchase rare and old books from people and we bring books from our library to the coffee shop. New books are purchased from publishing companies by an agreement. Moreover, we are ordering foreign books from abroad.
Does customer have to request card for reading? or make payments for reading?
Customers are buying books from our store and reading books brought from their home as we have not yet started to work at full capacity. We planned to have book renting service, which offers customer to obligate money for renting and refund the money after reading the book properly and clean. Book will get dirty if we offer free renting in the coffee shop or reading hall. People should learn to value and honour the books.
What kind of books do you offer to customers?
Our children and literature section has variety of choices and we brought foreign bestsellers that is not easy to find in UB.
Where will you open the next branch?
Next branches will be opened in Bayanzurkh and Khan-Uul districts. We will finish our project in UB within next three years.
Thank you for the interview.
