Mongolian Wheat Association is protesting the approval to import 20,000 tons of wheat from Russian Federation issued by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. On top of this request to import 60,000 tons of wheat has been submitted to the respective ministry. The Head of the association Mr. L.Tsandeleg emphized that this amount is the annual supply for the country. We have clarified upon this issue with Ts.Bolorchuluun, Head of the Agriculture Policy Implementation Coordination department at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
-Did the ministry received the request to import 60,000 tons of wheat?
-We are to receive any request submitted in regards with food and agriculture from the entities, whereas the discussion and approval of each sumbission is the separate matter. Any request to import wheat should be received at our Food Department. Head of this department Bayarmaa hasn't confirmed any requests sumbitted regarding the imports of 60,000 tons of wheat, which means the claim is not valid.
-How much of the flour reserves the country has?
-We have reserves of wheat and flour enough up to October 20th, 2015, from where we have estimated the supply of the new crop. Mongolia consumes 320-350 thousand tons of wheat annually and the last year crop is enough to fulfill the demands.
