Base inflation rate has dropped to its lowest since November 2013.
Base inflation rate has increased to 10.2 percent as of May 2015 according to Bank of Mongolia. Although the base rate is more that 10.2 percent compared to the general inflation rate which is currently is at 8 percent the gap is getting closer.
According to the Bank of Mongolia report on the inflation situation the tugrug sharply depreciated since July 2013 due to the difficulties faced with balance of payment. While in May 2015 the appreciaiton of tugrug resulted in the import products prices to remain without changes and resulted in decrease of the inflation rate.
BSe inflation rate is calculted by eliminating the high volatility products and servicess from the basket to reveal the price changes in mid and long terms.
Since March 2013 the base inflation rate has been higher than of the real inflation rate.
