MP S.Oyun stated: "World is facing numerous obstacles. World population is predicted to reach 11 billion at the end of the century. Accordingly, there will be an inevitable demand for food and water.
Water risk is becoming one of major issues facing us in the future. As livelihood needs increase, water consumption follows. We also start to face water issues in Mongolia. Despite water shortage at normal rate in Mongolia few years earlier, the country is now considered as one which seriously faces a great deal of water shortage. One of major factors which bring water shortage in the country is mega mining and industrial projects underway in Gobi area of Mongolia.
Mining projects such as Oyu Tolgoi and Tavan Tolgoi requires a large amount of water and energy. In relation, we are likely to encounter massive change in water reserves by 2030.
