During 70th session at General Assembly of United Nations held on October 28 in New York, the election of UN Human Rights Council took place.
Mongolia nominated for the member of the council and won with votes of 172 member countries of UN to become the council member.
Out of 7 countries from Asia-Pacific region nominated for five vacant seats of the region, Mongolia received the most number of votes.
Nominated alongside our country for the seat, United Arab Emirates received 159 votes, Kyrgyzstan received 147 votes, Republic of Korea received 136 votes and Philippines received 113 votes.
Mongolia will serve as the member of UN human rights council during 2016-2018, and is enabled to contribute into international activities of human rights protection and to get involved in the related decision making process.
