The foundation laying ceremony for the first highway was held today at Buhug davaa, Tuv aimag. Thus the construction of highway to connect UB with Hushigt international airport have started and it is expected to be commenced in July, 2018.
The total lenght of the highway will be 30.4 km with two-way and six lanes. The width of the highway will be 31 m and the construction will be done within 34 months. The Export and Import Bank of China to finance the project with soft loan.
At the ceremony, the Prime Minister Ch.Saihanbileg noted that it opens new page in history of infrastructure and road sector.
The Government of Mongolia have approved to implement three highway projects with the USD 500 million soft loan to be granted by the Government of China. The first highway project have started today.
The Minister of Road and Transportation D.Zorigt stated that total of 2,964 km paved roads were constructed during 1938 to 2012 while construction in road sector have developed intensively since 2012 until now by commencing 3,405 km paved roads. This year, we expect to construct 1,535 new roads and 1,346 reinforced concrete bridge.
