The first of the "Maamuu" book series for preschool children has been released. The books are unique as they contain tailored or target contents with the purpose of creating moral values as well as social and ecological habits and life skills on top of cognitive elements.
The book series are a part of Maamuu project that Mongol Content LLC is implementing in cooperation with Rotary Club of Narlag Ulaanbaatar and Mongolian Education Alliance. Within the scope of the project, Mongol Content LLC has released a digital album consisting of new lullaby songs.
Next component of the project is the book series which also aims to create family time among children and parents, grandparents and/or siblings and contains a creative section for the family.
"Taamii's shoes", the first book in the series, through its story and pictures, aims to provide a moral lesson. The intended lesson is that being from different social environment or family background and having different clothes should not be a reason for bullying or discriminating. Moreover, the book has a creative section containing painting, cutting and gluing exercises which help develop children's fine motor skills.
B.Batjargal, Executive director of Mongolian Education Alliance:
We have been collaborating with Mongol Content LLC to develop contents for children from birth to five and their families. Birth to five is the Golden Period of human development and is a time of tremendous growth across all areas of child development including brain, cognitive and language development and fine motor skills. Their development is affected by the environment and their interaction with adults, other children, their kindergarten, playgrounds and even the cartoons they watch. Therefore, we can boost their development with more support and greater engagement of parents. As partners Mongol Content and Mongolian Education Alliance share the same belief that production of songs and books for children that reflects their developmental features will help parents to further support their children.
Message to the parents:
Parents need to sit with your children and read and talk about the picture books together. Babies not only learn colors, shapes, letters from books, but also they learn about the world, develop their social and communication skills.
Kh.Ariungoo, 2016-2017 President of Rotary Club of Narlag Ulaanbaatar
Rotary Club of Narlag Ulaanbaatar is a member of Rotary International and we implement projects focused in maternal and child health as well as education.
In this preschool education project, we are also collaborating with Mongolian Rotary clubs of Tamir, Nomt, Niislel and Selbe and foreign Rotary clubs to deliver Maamuu books to the visually and hearing impaired children by converting print books into daisy book (audio books), braille books as well as into sign language video. Moreover, we are cooperating with relevant NGOs on furnishing libraries for the special needs children.
Another main element of the project is to organise training and lectures to parents and educators on education and development of preschool children particularly including book reading.
