The first car-free street of UB will open tomorrow

City Mayor and Ulaanbaatar City Governor has set a goal to make Ulaanbaatar city as tourism and business hub of Northeast Asia in 2017-2020. Within the framework, Seoul street was landscaped and became the first car-free and nightlight street. 

The landscaping works include pavement of 440 meters of area, construction of pedestrians, install of screens and 400 seats for the public, restoring plants, and lighting. Moreover, two sides and ceiling of the night street was decorated with lights.

The opening ceremony of the first car-free street of the city which covers an area from Circus intersection to Naran plaza intersection will start tomorrow (Jun 8) at 9:30 p.m and roads from Circus to Brauhaus will have closures. The opening ceremony will feature jazz and classical music performances, light shows and trade fairs. 

Head of City Tourism Department D.Batsuh said: "We have established the night street to develop UB city tourism. We have planned to expand the car-free street in further. Apart from the tourists, citizens, youths and children are able to rest and relax here watching cultural performances, trying foods and shopping".

8th of June 

  • Jazz and classical music performances
  • An official opening ceremony of the street
  • Rock and pop concert 
  • Electro dance music show 

9th of June 

  • Music festival 
  • Jazz and contemporary music performances
  • Electro dance music show

  • Jazz and classical music performances
  • Traditional art performance and fashion show 

11th of June 

  • Family day festival 
  • Children playground 
  • Jazz music performances
