ULAANBAATAR (GoGo Mongolia) - In 2017, a 2.5 km road and parking lot complex have planned to be built by capital city budget at the Bogd Khan Mountain Strictly Protected Area.
Construction on the road and parking lot complex is now over 75 percent. The parking lots which designed for 264 cars and 60 bicycles are located at the starting point of hiking to Bogd mountain. On weekends, approximately 5,000-10,000 people with 300-450 cars travel on this route and cause a traffic jam.
Moreover, due to the lack of pedestrian and facility, people pollute the environment by dumping, walking on unpaved roads and urinating along the road. To solve these issues and to enable fire engines to reach forest fires, city officials decided to build the road.
