Minister of Road and Transportation Development J. Bat-Erdene visited the New Ulaanbaatar International Airport in Khushig Valley on January 2.
During the visit, he said, “The financing of construction came from a soft loan from Japan in 2008. The construction work is now 98 percent complete and is expected to be finished in 2018.”
Construction of the airport has been carried out by 2,700 employees from 50 companies from Japan, South Korea, and Mongolia. Seventy percent of the companies are local and 85 percent of the employees are Mongolian.
A Chinese company has begun building a road that will link the airport to the capital. Officials say that the road will be finished in October 2018.
