Prime Minister U. Khurelsukh’s official visit to South Korea ended on January 17.
He met with members of the South Korean National Assembly and government during his official state visit. The Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave a statement about the outcome of the Prime Minister’s visit, noting that several topics were discussed and mutual agreements were reached.
South Korea will cooperate in opening new thermal power stations in 10 provinces and a new building for the Natural History Museum. Specialist from South Korea will assist in establishing online monitoring for the General Executive Agency of Court Decisions.
Cooperation agreements were also discussed for projects in agriculture, tourism, the environment, healthcare, media, and telecommunications. A study will be completed on reaching the next phase of establishing an economic partnership agreement between the two countries. Mongolian and South Korean officials discussed developing a multiple entry visa program for Mongolian passport holders and increasing quotas for Mongolian workers in South Korea. An investment of 2.8 million USD will be made to help create a Mongolian employment database and user platform.
Government officials also reached an agreement to cooperate in international communities such as the United Nations, and South Korea said it will support Mongolia’s efforts to join Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
